Welcome to my blog. This is all about me, Edge, and growing up with Mom and Gary. Mom was going to blog but I took over as it is a lot of fun. I am a Weimaraner that loves to hunt, play rally, agility, run, and eat good food. The World is my Playground and you are invited to share my experiences!

Dinner Bowl Dance

Mom thinks it is funny to bang the dinner bowl before I eat. I get really excited and run and spin and twirl and fly through the house. I learned this from my mom, Stormey, before I came to live with Mom and Gary. Stormey taught me that this made dinner happen faster!!! It is a lot of fun and it really makes mom laugh! We have a lot of fun in the evenings.

Playing in the snow

Mom and I played in the snow yesterday and today. It is nice outside and the snow is fun to run in and makes good snowballs. Mom and I played snowball for a long time. Then she threw one and him me in the butt! I was good at catching them and tearing them apart when she tried to make great big ones. When I got tired of snow balls, we got the bumper and I retrieved the bumper. When I picked it up, I had to shake all the snow off of it first.

Beef Heart - YUM!

Mom picked up a lot of food for me on Thursday afternoon. She got beef heart, BIG marrow bones and chicken liver. We spent the morning cutting up the 20# of beef heart. I gave her a good idea, she can use it for jackpot treats in our training. Wasn't that smart of me :) I sure think so. I got lots of beef heart snacks and jackpots this morning. Great way to start the day.

My Grandma is great!

My grandma sent me this wonderful card for my new titles. She also sent me money to buy cookies and bones. Mom took me to the store and my berry cookies were on sale so I got double the amount of cookies. I spent all my money there but have a lot of good stuff.

Lots of Cheese Balls!

I really like cheese balls for training treats. They are fun to chase and taste good. Sometimes Mom has a hard time finding them at the store so Gary got us this HUGE container! I don't think we will run out for a long time.

Thank You Grandma!

Grandma gave me mats for my training room for Christmas. Now I can work on my jumping safely since I now have padding! Mom tried to set it up earlier, but the mats had to air out and we had to wait until now.

I helped her too!

Rest!

After a nice dinner, a run in the snow and a rub, I had a nice rest. It was a busy, fun weekend, but I am tired! I use a lot of brain power and focus during my competition weekends.

Last trial of the weekend!

After Mom and I ate lunch and took a long walk we came in to get ready for another L2 run. We had a lot of fun and I did a great job, I earned another high score and a third place. We did cones in this run and it was the first time we have done cones all weekend. We came off a long send to a jump and into the cones, I was prancing as I thought it was fun to do that!

Mom was getting ready to walk our Level 3 course and she told me last time to play for the weekend. It was a very technical course with almost all the new level 3 exercises and very easy to get lost. Oh, no, we may be in trouble!! But we had fun!! It started with moving stand and signals to a regular recall and then back to a moving stand and call to heel. From there we did directive jumping. I was the star of the day on directive jumping. Not only did I do it great, but then I gave Mom a big ole chest bump before I did my front. Everyone thought it was really cute but was worried since I am as big as Mom. But she is used to it! After that we were off to do another jump and then off to the finish. And the bonus was the retrieve! We did our about turn and there it was, my dumbbell was right in front of me! When Mom sent me, I ran out and put my feet on it and slid across the floor. I really like doing my retrieve!!!

We earned a 200 and our first DQ toward our ARCHEX. Mom said we had to finish our L3 first, then we could start getting our double Qs for our ARCHEX. We have to qualify in both with a 195 or higher.

What a fun weekend. I really like the exercises in Level 3, less sitting and more action. We had all the new exercises this weekend and I did all of them really well!!!

RL3 and AOE

Here I am with all my ribbons at the show today. They ran out of placement and title ribbons, but you can still see how great I did!! :)

RL3 Title and Award of Excellence

We had another great day! I like being in level 2 and 3 as we get to sleep in, eat our bagel at Panera (and Mom gets her much needed coffee!) and we can get there at 8:00 and have plenty of time for our first run. Our level 2 run was very technical today and Mom was worried she would miss another sign. But we did great and started the day with 200. Mom and I made an error with our communication and I did a beautiful call to heel but I was supposed to do a front first. I think we both had a part in this one! I was not sure what she wanted and just did what we have been practicing the most.

Next was our Level 3 class. We only needed one more leg for our title and we were 2/3 of the way to our Award of Excellence. To earn the AOE you have to qualify in your first 3 attempts at L3 with a 195 or higher. We had signal exercises today and we have not done those in the ring, so of course, Mom was nervous. Do you know how many times we have practiced these in the past few months?? I think I do them in my sleep. We even went to Home Depot earlier this week and practiced. Well, surprise, surprise, I did them GREAT, and the rest of the course. We earned a 209 and got the highest score of all the level 3 dogs, even those with their L3 championships.

So we earned a first place, our Level 3 Title (RL3) and an Award of Excellence (AOE) I just don't know what Mom was soooo worried about!!

What I think of the down!

Poodle Mom got a great picture of me today. Mom said I look just like my Grandpa Rock. I take that as a compliment!!

I was the better half! (part 2)

We ate lunch and then it was time for our next L2 run. Mom was very distracted as she was working and I was the second dog. We didn't have much warm up time, which is not good for either of us, and we had to run in the ring. Well, I guess it was worse on Mom as she did the side step move at the moving down sign and then walked right by the next sign. What was she thinking?? She didn't even know she did it. We got to the next sign and I kept touching it, hey Mom, better look at ALL the signs. She still didn't get it?? We did a nice job and when we finished the judge had to tell her what she did. Oh, yea, she did realize she was off on the signs?!!! And who was she worried about??? So now she cost us a Q.

We had one more run, another L3. I knew she was nervous, but we took some time to warm up and practice the difficult exercises. We started with another jump!! I like these courses. We had several moving stands, but I am good at those!! Mom paid attention this time and did not miss any signs! We earned a 207 and another first place.

I guess I will let Mom come home with me :) She did a good job too, even though she cost us more points today than I did.

We get to go play again tomorrow. Maybe I should have a talk with her on the way.

I was the better half!

Mom and I had a great day at rally today. It was our first time in L3 and Mom was really nervous. I don't know why as we have practiced (and practiced and practiced) the exercises and have been doing great! We started with our L2 run and I did a good job. I got distracted once looking at all the vendors and lost a few points, but it was our first run of the weekend :) I earned a 203 and a 4th place. Mom had to work so we didn't spend much time together, just our run and a cool down after wards. Next Mom said she was going to walk our L3 course. I was ready! She was worried as I had to do my drop on recall in the same area I was distracted on the first run. She just worries too much!!!

We went in the ring and started with a recall over a jump -woohoo! I like jumping. When we got to our drop on recall, I did it like a pro!! I didn't even take extra steps. When we finished, it is a stationary exercise, so Mom was allowed to give me a cookie. She thought I had really earned it, so she takes two cookies out of her pocked and one goes flying across the floor. Well, that cost us 3 points!!! She is worried about me and SHE is making the mistakes. We ended up with a 206, the highest score in the entire class, and she earned 3 of those deductions! So the first time in L3, a Q and a first place! What was she so worried about???

Lots of laughter

Mom and I had so much fun tonight. First we bundled up and went out in the dark to play in all the new snow. There was a lot of it on the ground and Mom would scoop it up and throw it at me and I would launch in the air to catch it. We played outside for quite awhile just running around in the fresh snow.

Then we went inside to play and she was trying to put cookies on my nose and I kept flipping my head and throwing cookies through the air. She would tell me to leave it and I did, but I threw it too! I just didn't see the reason to sit there with a cookie on my nose. I really made her laugh too :)

What a fun night!!

Fun day

Mom had another Holiday today, and we had fun all day long. I am really liking these Holidays! We got up really early and drove for me to be a video star. It was a fun trip for me as I got to see horses, run in the pasture TWO times, learned all about kitty litter boxes. I don't know why we can't have one of those in our house??? And I got a massage and that worked out my really tight muscle. Not to mention I ate an entire bag of chicken while I got worked on.

Later in the day, we went to Home Depot to play. Mom had all 4 pockets full of treats and I ate every one of them. We did a lot of fun things in the main aisle and worked on recalls in the side aisles. Then I got to meet some kids - I really like kids!

When we got home, Mom had office work to do so I worked on a yogurt peanut butter bone while she got her work done. Then I took a nap!

I hope she has another holiday soon - these are FUN!!

Training Day

Mom and I rented the training building today and it was a blast. We had the entire building all to ourselves. We did some agility and some rally and some retrieving. Then we started all over again. Mom was proud of me as I did really good contacts and weaves and I have not done them in months. I even did a couple dogwalk/tunnel discriminations. Then we did some more rally, we have a trial this weekend so Mom is all worried about our distance exercises. Then Mom let me run around and I did jumps and tunnels all on my own and flew around the building. It was so much fun to just run and play. I sure hope we can go back and do that again.

Back to class!

We went to school tonight, I was so excited to go. I was wiggly all over when we walked in. We have not been for a long time, over 6 weeks, and I thought we may not get to go back. We had a lot of fun, we did 2 courses and worked on a lot of downs and jumps and other fun things. Next week is our trial and my first time in the big dog class!

Lapdog

I became Mom's lap dog tonight. She was really tired and we played for awhile and then she crashed in her office chair. I wanted to sit in her lap and snuggle to help her. I climbed on her lap and kept my back feet on the floor but I kept falling over, so very carefully I just climbed into her lap and held on to the arm of the chair with my back leg. Gary thought it was so cute he took pictures of us.

Resting

I am resting after my big day in hopes that we get to play later tonight. I love to play in my training room! Fun games and good food. It will be a perfect Weimaraner day!

Work from home day!

woohoo!! It was a work from home day today, I was soooo excited as Mom has not worked from home in a long time. I relaxed under her desk until breakfast and then we shared breakfast together. Then I was ready to play! But she told me she had to work so gave me a great big bone to chew on, that was great too. I'll have to remember that trick :) Then a little while later it was lunch time, what a great day, already two meals and a bone!

There was a lot of snow today, so after we ate, Mom took me out to run and play in the snow. I never get tired of running in the snow. I run and track and hunt and Mom throws snowballs at me. We have a lot of fun running and playing. She even threw a snowball at my butt and I ran and got her!

I found that critter's home too! I stuck my head all the way in to find it! I am getting closer and I WILL get him!

Back rub!

When we got home I ran to find Gary so he could rub my back. He was in the office, so I just turned around and sat down, giving him my back. He knew what I wanted and started rubbing me.

He worked on me and I moved around to help him find the right spots. He did a great job and made me feel better. Thank you Gary! :)

I feel so much better now, ahhhh

More fun in the snow at Alum Creek!

We went back to Alum Creek to run today!! We had to go further down the dam than usual as there were too many people at our normal spot. There was a man following us and I kept an eye on him. I am Mom's protector now and I wanted to make sure he stayed away! Mom told me it was ok, but I looking at him to let him know I was watching. When we headed further back up toward our normal area, he turned around. Then I could run and play as usual and I had a LOT of fun!! It was warmer today.

After about 30 minutes of running, we were heading back to the van and I wiped out on ice! There was one small patch of ice under the snow and *I* found it :( I ran to mom and she rubbed me and then we headed home.

Alum Creek Snow Adventure

We had sooo much fun at Alum Creek today. There was snow on the ground and more coming down, but we ran, climbed the "mountain" and even went snow tracking!! I want to go back tomorrow for more fun in the snow!!

it is hard to tell, but this is me climbing this big mountain :)

And then I went tracking on the way back.

What a great afternoon!!

Night time romp in the snow

It started snowing today, but Mom was at work so we could not go out and play in it. She got home late and we all had dinner. She kept talking about the snow and then finally at 8:00 she said, hey, let's bundle up and go play in the dark. YEA!! Best idea I have heard. We bundled up in our warm clothes and out we went. We ran around and chased each other and she threw snowballs at me. I would launch in the air and sail through them. We had a lot of fun.

Crate Games are Fun

Mom and I got two DVDs for Christmas. One was Crate Games by Susan Garrett. I am really good in my crate and know all the rules, so it was an easy start for us. BUT... I got GREAT cookies just for getting in my cage and then sitting when Mom touched the door. Wow, can't get any easier than that. Then I would go in my cage and Mom would walk across the room and call me and I would RUN to her and get cookies. Then she would send me back to my cage and I would get more cookies. I really like playing this game. She has to keep the cage shut or I go in to start the game all over again. Tonight we added a jump to it and then a contact "bottom" and I would run back and forth. Here is a picture in my cage, you can't see my eyes though as Mom but a spongee thing across the top so I do not hurt my head.

We are on break right now and I sure hope we can play again later!

Sad day

Mom had to go back to work today and I did not want her to go. We have had so much fun during the Holidays. We ran, played fetch, played games, trained and just had fun around the house. I really tried to make Mom stay home today or at least delay her leaving. First, I grabbed her brush when she opened the cupboard and then started a fun game of chase. Then I stole her washcloth and shook it so she would tug with me. And then I took her towel. By this time she didn't think it was funny and just let me have the towel. Hmmmm, that was not the plan. She took her shower so I waited on her and then got in the bed and pouted. I looked REALLY sad trying to show her she needed to stay home!

She told me she wanted to stay home with me, but had to go to work. As she was leaving, I stole things out of her briefcase, but she just took them back and walked out the door. I waited until she left and then played tug with Gary. But he ratted me out!! He called Mom and told her that I was playing before she even got out of the driveway. I will get him!!!

Fun in the sun!

Mom and I went out to play today and the sun made it nice, I know because Mom said that was the only reason we could stay outside so long. I ran and played bumper and hunted. We played retrieve and even worked on some fun jumping. Mom and I had a lot of fun. I am so glad she had another Holiday today and was able to stay home and play with me!! And then when we came inside she gave me a really good bone. What a great day!

Happy New Year!!

What a great start to a new year, LOTS of good food and fun. Mom and I have played all kinds of games today and we have had great food to snack on all day. And one of my favorites.... SHRIMP!
