Welcome to my blog. This is all about me, Edge, and growing up with Mom and Gary. Mom was going to blog but I took over as it is a lot of fun. I am a Weimaraner that loves to hunt, play rally, agility, run, and eat good food. The World is my Playground and you are invited to share my experiences!

Resting

After a fun morning at Alum Creek, chasing bunnies in the back yard and then playing retrieve with my tennis ball, it is time to curl up with my pig for a nap! Oh, and shared lunch with Mom and Gary too!

Alum Creek

Mom and I bundled up and went to Alum Creek this morning. It was actually warmer there than at home. We both got very warm in all our layers. I was on a track and Mom was not happy as I was getting really far away from her, she even ran twice to try to catch up with me. She finally made me go back the other direction when we got close to the woods. Then I went to visit a dog right before we left and she was not happy about that either. She thought I was behind her but as soon as she turned around I ran to see the cute little dog. Then the dog chases me and I thought that was fun. Mom apologized for my "rude" behavior, but we had fun playing chase! By then, it was time to go home, and we probably would have come home even if it wasn't!

When we got home, I told Mom I wanted to go out back. I ran to the back corner and started hunting - I found the bunny!! I knew he was there as soon as we pulled in!

Play Outside

Mom and I bundled up and went outside to play today. I was able to hunt first and then we played ball. I like chasing my ball and taking it back to Mom to do it all over again. I hope we can go out and play again later too!

Shopping!

Mom had her purse on the desk and I was able to reach in without her knowing. I took her checkbook and all her dollars! I was going Christmas shopping! That is all everyone is talking about, all the great deals this weekend, so I thought it would be a good time to go. I'm glad Mom left her purse where I could get some money. Now what to buy....

Resting

I helped Mom clean today (well, I made more messes for her to clean too!) But it is all hard work!!!!

Destruction!

That is one thing that I really like to do. I like to get things and just rip them apart. That is why I am a good shredder for Mom. But I like to do it to more things than paper. I found this bucket today and thought it would be fun to tear apart. First you stomp it and hold it down with your feet:

Then you grab the top with your teeth

Then you pull it as hard as you can

And then you SHAKE IT!!!!

That is how you officially destroy the bucket!!!!

New Collar

I got a new collar last night. Mom was afraid that I would not like it since I am so picky about energy. (It is a Phiten Titanium "collar") She thought if I wouldn't wear it, she could, so she got it for me to try. She put it on me and I really liked it, not to mention I look good in it!

When we go to bed, mom always takes off my regular collar but left this one on me. She thought this may help with my neck since it is out every time I go to see Dr. Karen. During the middle of the night Mom and I bashed heads really bad and she could feel heat in her shoulders. A few minutes later I scratched really hard and my new collar came off. When Mom found it, she put in on herself since her neck hurt.

This morning, we get up and I look at Mom and she is wearing MY collar. Hey, that is mine!! I kept poking it with my nose. Mom, that is MY collar, why are YOU wearing it?? She finally took it off and put it back on me. Geesh!! She buys me a new collar and then she takes it. I'm glad I noticed. I really like my new collar, it makes me feel good!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends. I had good food today, turkey and filet mignon. Gary said we got our white meat followed by our red meat. I really don't care if it is red or white, they were both very good!!

Mom and I played tonight too and that was fun. We can't go outside though as it is raining. I had to go out to potty and got all wet. When I came in I kept going between Mom's legs to dry my back on her pants. She got a towel to dry me off, but it was too late, she was soaked too :)

Off to take a nap....

Turkey Day tomorrow

I am so excited about Turkey day. Gary came home early and then Mom came home - it is HOLIDAY time and that means good food!! And I got to play outside tonight before all the sleet started, it was so much fun running around and around the backyard.

The best part, Mom has 4 days off work. So we will have so much fun playing and learning new things. I really like to play with Mom. AND.. we got a big box of new cookies yesterday. There were venison cookies, salmon cookies and some really good duck cookies. I already tasted the duck cookies and I even tried to steal the package but Mom knew what I was doing. Maybe I can sneak them later. She also bought more turkey beanie weenies and those are yummy too. I got those after having my nails done last night. Glad that is done!

Happy Turkey day!

Edge the healer

Mom went for her massage tonight and I helped. She was on the table and was told to "release this" and "release that" and I knew she was having trouble letting it go. So I put my chin on the spot and helped release the muscle for her. I was told that I am better than her, so it was nice of me to help her.

Just call me Edge, the healing Weimaraner. :)

ARCHX Edge

APDT Rally Champion Excellent

On the road again..

We got up really early and hit the road again this morning. We were hoping our crating spot was still open as we did have a good spot. We were the first ones there, well, other than the trial secretary, so we got our spot back. Good thing too as someone came in behind us about 5 minutes later trying to find a good spot.

They were running a little different today and kept both rings going, they just didn't tell anyone they were going to do that today. We did our first course, Level 1 and did a great job. It was probably our best run of the weekend and earned a 207!

Then the challenges started and we didn't even know it. Mom walked our Level 2 course in the first ring and the judges took a lunch break so we took a walk. When we came back there were a few people in the back ring walking level 2. Mom asked if they did walk through and she was told no. She ran back and walked through a couple times, but thought there would be judges briefing and walk through after we ran the first course. It was almost our turn in the first ring and we heard them yell for us. We went to the first ring and was informed that we were supposed to go do the course in the back ring. huh?? no one told us they were even starting, we went back and did our best under the circumstances. Then when we finished, they were ready for us in the first ring. Wow, our heads were spinning. It would have been fine if they had told us. Luckily we are a good team and we worked together and made it happen.

They did awards and changed courses and had some more down time. We almost forgot we had one more run. After all the awards Mom was thinking it was time to pack up, but no... we get one more run. We had level 1 in the back ring and I was getting tired, it had been a long weekend. I did a good job, just a little slow on my sits. And then I did a great bonus and when Mom released me I bounced up and down and up and down.

We just earned our ARCHX in 5 straight trials. We were 8 for 8 for the weekend and all ARCHX qualifying scores. WOOHOO!!

Mom said that we should be able to play in Level 3 at our next trial. I hope so as I like those exercises.

Going back tomorrow!

Yea, Mom said we can go back and play tomorrow! We had only planned on one day, but Mom ws feeling good and thought it was fun even with all the extra distractions. She left me with Gary and ran to the store to get more treats. Yippee!! I really want to go play again.

The challenges continue

Our next run was challenge free, it was Level 2 and our first DQ of the weekend. It was a fun and twisty course and a moving down for the bonus. I did a great job and even earned a 2nd place!!

We had some down time before our last run and took a nice walk. It was nice "Weimaraner weather" outside :) Mom bundled up, but I loved it!!

Mom walked our course, paced around awhile and then came and got me for our turn. We started our course and then, what is that?? A bucket? A big bucket with water dripping in it. It was right at signs 1 and 2. What is a bucket doing there and why is water dripping in it. I MUST check it out. Wow, I have never seen a bucket on our course before, that was cool.

We had another good run (well, after we figured out the bucket!) and we earned our second DQ of the day. We had to wait on our score and our ribbons and then we packed up to head home.

A Successful but challenging day

We got up really early this morning and headed up north. Mom said we were going to play. I was really excited as I love to go meet new friends and play with Mom. We took a long walk when we got there and then went to get settled. We were doing pretty well and then a young male Weim shows up. He REALLY wanted to see me and his mom was not good at keeping him away. I was trying to focus and we had to keep moving away from him. Mom was worried about me going to him, but he would not leave me alone.

We finally went up the the ring as there was one more dog before me. I was working with Mom and all of a sudden this little dog comes flying over and bites my leg. HUH?!?? what did I do, I wasn't even looking. I screamed and held up my leg. Mom immediately checked me and it didn't break the skin, but I had saliva on my leg and I had to walk it off. We were next in the ring and I did really well, Mom said she was proud of me to recover so quickly. We earned our first Q of the weekend!

We had to go to the other ring for our next run and we had to walk down this long hall to the ring. The dog that bit me was in the ring and we were getting ready for our turn. Then he pooped in the ring! Yuck - that was nasty. So we had some down time and played some games. As he was coming out of the ring, Mom and I got way over by the wall and faced each other so we could give him as much room as possible. Well, his mom was not so nice, she wasn't paying that much attention. He charged me and barked really mean at me. I was really upset that he did that. Mom asked if we could have a few seconds as the judge saw what happened. But then when we walked in the ring, I could smell the nasty poop. Yuck, I am supposed to work with the poop smell?? Mom walked me a little, got my attention and we were off. It took me the first sign to get it together, but then I did great. Mom said she was SOOO proud of me to recover so quickly. Wow, what a morning!! It is not even 10:30 and I have been "attacked" twice and I didn't do anything.

After our first two runs, we were able to go out and take a walk. We had some down time and we went out to get some fresh air. I really needed it after working in that poopy ring!!

Comfort!

I got nice and comfy on the couch after my fun night with Mom!

Back Yard Fun!

What a great night. Mom was home before dark so we hurried outside to play. I was able to hunt and run and we played the "get yer butt" game. I really like to be chased! Then I tried to find the ground hog next door, but he was not around. Usually he sits right on the other side of the fence and stares at me and then runs under the shed. We have stare downs! It started getting dark, so we had to go inside. But it was soo much fun.

After dinner, we worked on some jumping and heeling and all kinds of fun stuff. Mom is showing me a new way to do pivots and I think it is fun. We've had a hard time with them as I have to stand up and walk backwards in a half circle. Once I was standing, I was okay, but Mom was not sure how to teach the stand and turn. We are finally getting it!! I really like learning new things, you earn a lot of cookies for new stuff. And we are learning "turn back" so the I turn around and run away from Mom to go do something. That is fun too as when I "turn back" there is a pile of cookies to run too! woohoo!!

And it gets better. Mom bought us a cupcake at the Suisse cake shop, it was chocolate peanut butter and the frosting caused me a lot of drool. I kept trying to sneak a lick as it was just so delicious. Maybe she could get those for training treats! I never steal things off her plate, but I sure tried to steal the cupcake.

I wonder if she has any more fun stuff planned for us tonight.

Training Time!

Mom didn't get home until after dark tonight so we could not go run. But we trained tonight in the new training room. I really enjoy our training time. We did all kinds of fun games including catch and retrieve a tennis ball. Mom is teaching me something new too, and that is really special as there are a lot of cookies involved. I enjoy it so much, I never want it to end. I stand in the training room staring at her hoping she will get the hint and come back to play some more. Off to work on the sad face... maybe THAT will get more play time!

Alum Creek fun

After running errands with Mom, she promised to take me somewhere. I was really tired of riding in my cage in the van all morning. She asked where I wanted to go, hmmm, does she really have to ask. We headed to Alum Creek and was happy to see very few vehicles there. There was more wind than we had at home, but luckily Mom was prepared. I really didn't care as it is fun to run in the wind. We ran for a long a time and I even went in the woods, I came out pretty quick though as Mom was not happy that I got out of sight. She had already turned around and I was coming up behind her but saw something exciting and went in to check it out. I guess that was not a good thing to do.

There were several other dogs there, but I never really go to "meet" any of them. We had a long walk and were back to the van and a man and his pointer came to their car. He came to meet me and was very impressed that I was such a good boy. He thought I looked very smart. Well, yea, I'm a Weimaraner?? What did he expect. He talked to Mom for a long time and was very interested in my bird training. Although he recommended a vibration collar and Mom told him what she thought about that. Whew... I sure don't want "vibrations" on my neck!!!

Sad face

Here is the sad face I gave Mom to let her know I was ready to go RUN!!

Go to the Park!!

Mom wanted a nice picture with my championship ribbons and since she had a headache at the trial we didn't stay for pictures. So today I was SOOO excited to go the park and then realized we were doing pictures. I thought we were going for fun, not another photo shoot. Don't you think Mom already has enough pictures of me?? I sure think so. I really was not INTO getting my picture taken as we were at the park!!! There were dogs walking around and having fun, and I was supposed to pose for pictures. I don't think Mom was thrilled with any of them, but she did get these two that are okay.

Then we got to enjoy the park!! Finally!! We took a walk all the way around the path. It was pretty hot out there though. We didn't come prepared as we didn't know it would be HOT! So we just did one loop and then came home to chill.

Then we went out in the back yard and Mom and Gary put away equipment and I ran around and played. Then we played chase. I LOVE it when Mom chases me, it is one of my favorite games.

We had a great day today and I finally got one of my new BIG bones to chew. It is a great day when you get a marrow bone!

Rally Class

We went to rally class tonight and had soo much fun. We got to do two courses, none of that heeling in a circle before class. Mom and I really don't like the heeling in a circle thing. So it was great to just go in and do courses.

Everyone was very blah after class though. Just one more class and Wild Weavers is closing. We have had so much fun at our rally classes and I have come so far. I started when I was just a baby and had no idea what focus was all about. I remember we never could heel in the circle as I just tried to get the other dogs. Mom always made me work way on the other side of the building away from all the other dogs.

Hans' mom took some pictures of us in class, she even got a great picture of my Flip finish!! I love to do the flip finish!!

And look at how good I can heel now!

New Plan

Mom tried something different tonight since I was upset we couldn't run last night. It was the "run early, eat late" plan. I really wasn't too excited about that plan either. Why can't we just have daylight?? As soon as Mom got home we went out back to run and play bumper. Then when we came inside I had to WAIT - yes W A I T - one hour to eat my dinner. Well, I just cannot do that, my belly was hungry.

So wonder what other plan we can try???

Where did the daylight go???

Well, I was sure disappointed tonight. Every night, Mom comes home, I eat dinner, Mom and Gary eat dinner and then a little while later we go play in the back yard. Tonight, same routine except Mom went in the office instead of outside. I INSISTED she take me outside. I kept running back and forth, so she asked what I wanted. I think she knew what I wanted?? our routine. So she took me to the back door and IT WAS DARK. Huh, how did THAT happen??? I want to go run and play in the back yard, it can't be dark. I don't like the time change, I want to go outside and play.

At least Mom played with me inside. We had a lot of fun and played a lot of games. I am glad they moved the family room and made a training room for me. We will sure get to use it a lot now that it is dark so early. Maybe we will have to change our schedule and go out and play before we eat??

Steak and tuna steak

The end to a great weekend, steak and tuna steak on the grill! And asparagus too, one of my favorites. Gary sure knows how to grill out good meals, and of course I help!! He couldn't do it without me.

Now off to take a good nap after all the running and a full tummy.

Playing bumper

Fun afternoon

When we went to run Mom made me wear my coat. I wasn't quite sure why as it seemed nice outside. Well, it was embarrassing as I was the ONLY one with a coat on. Finally Mom realized I was HOT and she let me take it off. It was really nice out there, perfect Weimaraner weather! We had a lot of fun going new places and seeing so many other dogs there.

We did whistle work while we were there too. Mom thought this may help with my bird work as well as I get so far away from her that she wasn't sure I could hear her or not. So the whistle is easier for me to hear AND we get to practice.

We had a lot of fun and it felt good to have my ears flapping in the wind!!

This is Alum Creek

Since we spend so much time at Alum Creek, Mom took pictures to share what it looks like. See why I like it so much?? You can run and run and run and then run some more. And you can go so many different places. We went somewhere we have never been before today. Our normal spot was really busy so we went to the dam. I had to stay on my leash though as Mom was afraid I might fall over the "edge" haha!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!!

Great Way to Start a Day

Wow - we got to grind food today. I was surprised as I didn't know we were doing that today. We had beef liver, beef heart and chicken livers. I always get to taste test as well as help put it all away. There were a couple bonuses in the chicken livers too - chicken hearts!! They are YUMMY treats and I got to eat all of them that Mom found.

We are heading to Alum Creek to run soon too. We just have to clean up and Mom get her shower. Boy, I'm glad I don't have to take a bath every day, that would NOT be fun!!

Fun Saturday

We had a fun day today. We played outside for a long time. We played with our bumper and we played "tag" and best of all, Mom chased me and played the "get yer butt" game. That is one of my favorites! We had two "training" sessions, as Mom calls them, but I just call them FUN. We did a lot of fun things including chase and playing in and out of my cage.

Mom did a lot of things around the house today too and I helped!! I like to help Mom do things, and I usually make it a lot more fun :)

I am now a tired boy! Thank goodness for my pig, he is such a nice pillow when you are exhausted.

Rally Class

We had a fun class tonight, everyone brought snacks to celebrate our titles. We took a pumpkin roll and Hans brought carrot cake muffins and tiny tots. Kaos made cookies today and brought them to share. I think it is best that treats are brought for US. We have to do most of the work you know. If you recall, I was completely responsible for one course as Mom wasn't even awake yet.

We had a lot of fun at class tonight, we did 2 courses. It is kind of sad though as we only have 2 more classes until next year. What are we going to do with all our free time??? Maybe we can find another class to sign up for until next year. That is a long time with no friends to visit.
